    Bottle has a chemical taste-Updated
I bought this bottle to use with travel. It collapses nicely to fit in a bag and fill at the airport or collapse down in a backpack on a hike etc. So I really wanted it to work for me. First bottle I bought had a chemical taste to the water after I added so I thought OK, I’ll put some boiling water in the bottle and that will likely remove the chemical taste (it didn’t). I bought a second bottle same color and all thinking it would be better (it wasn’t). These are great bottles and should be super functional but the chemical taste from the water is really not good. I’m not sure if it was a problem with a specific lot (I purchased the orange bottle on 2 different occasions) but its a no go for me if I taste chemicals in my water! Update***: I am updating my review based on the excellent customer service I received from this company. I really like the product and they followed up with my concerns.***

    Good Bottles
I bought these bottles to leave in the car as spare water and they are pretty solid bottles. So they definitely smelled/tasted of silicon when I first got them, but I followed the (poorly translated) instructions and boiled the bottles for a little bit. After boiling, the instructions recommend steeping red or green tea so I went with red and just left it in the recently-boiled water to keep it warm and steeping. I left the red tea in there for a good long while and eventually poured them out and rinsed. They smelled a bit like red tea for a short while but it wore away really fast and now the bottles don’t really have that silicon taste/smell at all anymore. UNLESS the bottle sits for a long time, but even then the taste is very subtle and not enough to be intolerable.I will note that they seem decent-to-good-quality but the cap has a minor error: the “On” and “Off” label arrows. They face the wrong way! “On” points counterclockwise and the “Off” points clockwise so they’re completely wrong unless by “Off” they meant that you tightened the cap and are heading off. But this is just a goofy little translation error, aside from that the quality is generally pretty solid. As is typical for these silicon bottles, it will flop down a bit when you’re trying to drink it and also crush if you suck all the water/air out. Really not a big deal though and is easy to get used to.

    handy and packable
Easy to pack, collapses nicely. Holds a nice amount of water with no funny taste from the bottle. Good spout for drinking and handy carabiner to carry it attached to your back pack. When the water is running low the bottle does fall over and collapse in a little bit preventing it from sitting up on a table, or being able to slide into a water bottle pocket, but it never leaked

    Works well but smells strange
The design is practical; it easily shrinks down when empty, making it perfect for travel, hiking, or just fitting into my bag without taking up space. The material is easy to clean, but there is a lingering smell which is unpleasant.

These bottles have a funny smell that never goes away.
I bought a few of these about six months ago. These bottles are made out of a strange plastic or silicon and the smell inside of them never goes away. When you buy these bottles, the instructions tell you to expect an unusual smell when you open them because of the kind of silicon they are made of. The instructions tell you how to supposedly get rid of the smell (which involves submerging them in boiling water for a little while), and then the smell is supposed to go away. I followed all the instructions and actually boiled them twice. But the smell never went away. The smell also seemed to make the water inside of them taste funny. I was concerned that there was some kind of chemical leaching into the water. Felt sort of unsafe, if I’m being honest. The overall construction of the items was good, and it was easy to transport and collapse, but that was not worth the smell and taste problems that the silicon created.

Surprising water capacity, and collapses down to the size of a can
Has an amazing capacity, it collapses down to the size of a coke can. I was iffy about its stability, but I didn’t have it tip over and the lid is very secure

    nifty bottle, for a bit.
This is a cool little bottle. and I love the carabiner. My daughter loves it as it can expand and collapse.Downside:After some use, the screw unit where the lid and the bottle meet (white piece in the picture), the seal tends to leak.

Quality product, but a touch heavy for ultralight hikers
