    Great – one wish
It is a great outdoor mat, I only wish it were wider. I love being able to wash and dry!

  2. SDQ

Great size, but slips on floor
Perfect size mat. Good price, but does not grip a tile floor well. Makes several moves difficult.

  3. Om.Brandi

Nice quality, folds easily, slippery on tile or wood flooring
I waffled between 3 and 4 stars for this product. It’s well-made and the grippy side is grippy enough, but the mesh side is super slippery on anything like tile or wood. I think this is really meant for the beach or grass. In those cases it would work well, but I bought for a home mat because I have a small space and thought it would take up less space than a rolled up mat. I will still keep it in my car for pop-up yoga opportunities, but a little disappointed that I can’t use at home. It’s nice and long, but could be wider. I also think it’s a little bit bulky for travel.

    Works well
So, my original intention was to have my dad use this mat in his office to do his doctor ordered stretches, but he prefers using a towel on the floor. My daughter & I have tried it out at home for our stretching sessions but find it doesn’t provide any cushioning against the hard floor, so we prefer a traditional yoga mat. We have found another unexpected use for this mat however as a sort of picnic blanket during our volunteer time at an animal sanctuary. We sit on it on a wooden deck, the grips on the back help keep it in place, and it’s easy to fold and take with us.

  5. The Great and Powerful OZ

It’s a nice mat, super light and portable, but the double layer creates massive wrinkles
This is a difficult review for me, because I want to give it 4 stars just for the overall quality and uniqueness – the built in band to keep your yoga mat wrapped up and portable when not in use, the washability, and the tiny holes for breathability. The fabric feels nice – it almost has like a suede feel to it – a treat for your feet!. There are also anti-slip criss-crosses throughout the top. The underside is kind of a mesh – almost like what you’d have on your screen door, but two or three times as thick. It also has anti-slip criss-crosses on the INSIDE of the mesh, which I think is supposed to prevent the top layer from slipping. However, when using the mat (do NOT try to use it without another mat underneath on a slippery surface!!!!) I find the mat does bunch up in areas. I’ve tried on thick carpet and on a flat area of mowed lawn (make sure you check for rocks before putting it down or you’ll flash back to the last time you stepped on a lego barefoot). I also tried it on a deck (not recommended without another mat underneath). I had the issue with bunching in all those places. The problem is less when I use another mat underneath, perhaps because of the extra gripping, but that defeats the purpose of a portable, easily cleaned outdoor mat.I do have a feeling this might actually be perfect for a beach or a sandy location due to the uneven terrain. I haven’t had the chance to get to the beach yet this year, but the first chance I do I’ll try it out. If it works as well as I think it. might, I’ll up my rating and just suggest using it as a beach mat!

Great compact substitute for traditional yoga mat
Great for yoga in the park on the grass as the mat allows you to feel the ground beneath you w/out padding. It consists of two different materials sewn together; one side which has some grip type of feel to keep from slipping. There is a bit of play in the material vs a traditional rubber mat but this is easily adapted to. Best aspect of this mat is its portability and compact folding style. Oh, and, it’s washable vs wipeable. And, it’s useful for providing a barrier between the ground and you in case of picnics too. Have not tried on sand but I’m pretty sure the mat will perform well in that venue as well. The material appears to have permeability so sand shouldn’t stick between the two materials.

    Waste of sand-free material??
I trust CGEAR’s sand-free technology – their mats are like magic: sand on the top falls through, but sand below it doesn’t come through. I was looking forward to taking this to my river rafting trips. In the past, I used a tarp for yoga on the beach, and often, the tarp gets covered by sand, particularly in the windy afternoon. (It is often windy in the afternoon when camping by the river.) When I received this mat, I was disappointed as it wasn’t ultra-light or small. Compared to my foldable yoga mat I currently take when I travel, this is not smaller (see photo) or noticeably lighter. The sand-free material is on the bottom side, but the top material doesn’t let sand go through. Sand below the mat may not come up, but sand blown over the mat would stay. I feel this is wasting the sand-free material. The top material feels good and grippy to do yoga. Probably this is meant for someone who lives near beach and does yoga in the quiet morning…

    Great Yoga Mat
I have used this yoga mat outside on the grass or in my home on the carpet and have it had any issues with it slipping the side with a grip on it definitely keeps it in place it’s long enough if you’re a taller person and I love that it has a strap that you can roll the mat up and keep it bounded together so definitely worth the price for me.
